How to perform the best Keyword Research to grow your traffic using Search Engine Optimization tactics for 2025?

Weezle Marketing can help with everything Search Engine Optimization wise! We have even created a software tool to help out specifics of your online business. but, lets learn the basics of keyword research and why you need it still in 2025.

First, what is a keyword?

A 'keyword' is a term used in SEO to describe the phrases a customer uses when they search in Google.

For example, say I'm looking for someone to fix my boiler. I would likely search the term 'local plumbers' into Google.

Here the phrase 'local plumber' is the keyword I use when I search. So, when you are picking keywords for your company, pick phrases that your customers will search to find a product/service/information like yours.

Second, How can you see your competitor's keywords?

Curious about what keywords your competitors are ranking for? Let's uncover that valuable information together!

  1. First off, make sure you've added some competitors to the platform. If you still need to do this, it's easy to do and costs one competitor credit. You have six competitor credits to use a month.

  2. Navigate to the 'Strategy' section, and from there, dive into 'Competitor Analysis'. This is where you'll see a list of all the competitors you've added.

  3. Click on a competitor to discover the keywords they're ranking for. Remember, the data you'll see is based on the time when you first added the competitor to the platform. The date of the 'Last Audit' is displayed for your reference.

  4. If you want the freshest data, hit the 'Refresh' button next to the 'Last Audit' date. This will update the information so you're looking at the most recent keyword rankings. This will cost one of your competitor credits.

And there you have it! You're now ready to keep a closer eye on your competition.

Third, now that you know... how do you decide on choosing your first keyword?

Finding the right keywords to 'SEO' on your website can be tricky. Keywords are incredibly important, as you want to make sure your website appears on the first page of Google for terms that your customers are using.Luckily, the platform can really help you with this. Our keyword research tool will bring back lots of potential keywords for you to choose from, so you can quickly spot those that will drive the right kind of visitor (ie. a potential customer!).

But you need to add something to get our recommendations. And sometimes this first phrase isn't always obvious! Here's some tips for you if you're struggling to find that first keyword:

  1. Is there a phrase/service that 'sums up' you as a business, eg marketing software, online estate agency, commercial cleaning services, etc. Enter some options and see what the suggestions are like - do they encompass what you do?

  2. Use the keyword filters for inspiration! You can view your ranked keywords, your competitor's keywords and blog ideas.

  3. Look at what your competitors are doing! Navigate to their website and look at their copy, especially their tagline as this is usually a good indicator of a keyword they will be optimising for.

  4. Be creative! Chuck in a few ideas and see what we bring back. Don't be scared to think outside the box. You might just find a gem of a keyword that your customers are searching for!

  5. You can also view suggested keywords to get you going. These suggested keywords are based on the business category you selected when adding your website to our platform.

Fourth, now that you are probably interested or already using our software (www.Weezlesearch.com) you might be asking... how do I download my chosen keywords?

It's easy! Just follow these simple steps:

  1. Start by hovering over reporting and then click keywords.

  2. Next, locate the 'Settings' button - you'll find it at the top right corner of your screen.

  3. Once you're in the settings, you'll see options to export your keywords.

  4. You can choose to download your keywords in either PDF or CSV format, according to your preference.

And that's it! You've successfully downloaded your keywords.

Does Singular or Plural Versions of a keyword matter?

When you're selecting keywords for your website you may wonder if you need to choose both the singular and plural version of a phrase.

For example, 'plumber' and 'plumbers'.

The short answer is no, you don't. Google is smart enough to understand to understand in most cases the addition of an 's' doesn't change the meaning of the phrase.

To see this in action is simple; go to Google and search both variants. It is only if you see very different results that you know Google treats these two as different phrases.

However, in most cases you will see very similar results. In these cases, we would advise you selecting the version which has the highest search volume (if they differ).

Okay, you might be asking... How to bulk add keywords on the software.

If you've already curated a list of keywords that you want to add, there's an easier way to add them to the platform. We'll walk you through the steps to bulk-add keywords and save time on your keyword research.

Firstly, navigate to the keyword research section of your platform.

From there, select the "chosen keywords" button, which will show you a list of all the keywords you've already added to your basket.

Next, scroll down to the bottom of the list and locate the "bulk add keywords" button.

To use this feature, simply enter your keywords in the correct format, one line at a time.

Once you've added all of your desired keywords, click the "Add keywords" button. The platform will then add them to your basket.

Now all you need to do is to save the 'chosen keywords' with your newly added keywords.
